Privacy
Last updated . It covers this website and the ClassicQuester Companion desktop app.
No ads, no tracking cookies, no email list. The prep checklist and dismissed banners are stored only in your browser (localStorage) and never leave your device. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare adds to every page. It sets no cookies, uses no local storage and does not fingerprint visitors; its script reports page views and page-load performance to Cloudflare. Cloudflare also delivers this site, so it processes your IP address to serve each page.
Community polls run on Supabase, hosted in the EU (Ireland). Nothing is sent to Supabase until a poll loads, and no sign-in happens until you vote. When you vote, your browser signs in anonymously: no name, email or password. It receives a random ID and sign-in token, kept in this browser's localStorage (cq-poll-session), so each browser votes once and can see its own vote. We store that random ID, the option you chose and when. Supabase processes your IP address to handle the request. Results are shown only as totals; nobody else can see how you voted. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes the ID from your device.
Accounts, guild posts and messages
Accounts are optional and only needed for the guild finder. You sign in with Discord through Supabase Auth, hosted in the EU (Ireland). Discord sends us your Discord ID, username, display name, a link to your avatar and, if Discord shares it, your email address. The email is never shown on the site and is not used to contact you. Your session is kept in this browser's localStorage (sb-pdhcicfmojdkziqcvvwn-auth-token).
Your display name is public. Your guild post is public; its contact links are shown only to signed-in members. Messages are visible to the two people in the conversation. They are not end-to-end encrypted: the site owner can access them through the database, and does so only to handle reports, abuse or legal requests. We also store who you have blocked and the reports you send.
Guild posts are hidden 30 days after you last renew them and stay stored until you delete them. Deleting your account on the account page permanently removes your sign-in record, profile, guild post, contact links, conversations, messages, blocks, reports and your Companion devices. Accounts are for people 16 and older; see the Terms.
The trailers on the homepage are plain links until you press play. Only then does the video load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), which receives your IP address and is covered by Google's privacy policy.
ClassicQuester Companion (desktop app)
The ClassicQuester Companion is a Windows app that connects your World of Warcraft install to your account. It signs you in with Discord or Battle.net through the same Supabase Auth (EU, Ireland) and registers this installation with a random device ID (never your computer's name), the app version, and when it was first and last seen, linked to your account. It reads only your own World of Warcraft folder — never game memory, other programs or other files — and your saved sign-in is kept in Windows Credential Manager, not in the app.
As you play, the ClassicQuester addon records public World of Warcraft facts — item details, NPCs, quests, gathering-node locations, recipes, and vendor and auction prices — and the Companion uploads them to build a shared, public game database that everyone using ClassicQuester can read. This is game-world information, not personal data: your contribution is linked to your account on our server so observations can be counted and de-duplicated, but the public database holds only the game facts, not who reported them, and never your character names or anything private. Your own characters, gear, talents and professions are read from your PC to show you in the app and are not uploaded. The Companion's full in-app privacy policy is in its About page.
Character sync is separate and starts only once you install the ClassicQuester addon: those characters, gear, talents, quests and professions are stored privately, nothing about them is public unless you choose to share it for that character, and snapshots older than 365 days are removed. Our API logs a request ID, which route was called, the result and how long it took; it does not log your IP address, account ID, sign-in tokens or what you sent. Cloudflare, which runs the API and this site, processes your IP address to deliver each request and to limit abuse. The Companion keeps no log file on your PC, and there is no analytics, crash reporting, tracking or advertising in it.
Deleting your account on the account page also removes your Companion devices, and we plan to remove devices that have not been used for 180 days automatically; until that runs they stay until you delete your account. Uninstalling the Companion in Windows Settings removes the app, and choosing to delete its data removes the offline copies of news and the item database from your PC. The Companion relies on the same services as this site: Supabase for sign-in and the database (EU, Ireland), Cloudflare for the API and downloads, and Discord or Blizzard Battle.net for sign-in under their own privacy policies.
